ManageStrong (Part 2) Managing Successful Teams (In-Person)

Wednesday, April 19, 2023 (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Date/Time: Wednesday, April 19 from 8:30 - noon

Format: In-Person

Hour 1

Preparing Your Workforce for the Future Speaker: Ginnie Weckerly, SPHR, Human Resource Director, Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois linkedin.com/in/ginnie-weckerly-51815229

The first time you ask about an employee’s strengths and weaknesses is probably at a job interview. However, once on the job, it is easy to become more focused on goals and less on developing employee’s skills sets. Assessing an employee’s opportunities for growth regularly should be a top priority. It shows you care about their success. Doing so can help you grow promotable teammates and give them more confidence to make valuable contributions to the success of your organization.

Objectives:

  • Introduction to SWOT analysis and tools designed to assess employee development needs.
  • Determine how employees like to be rewarded.
  • Practice how to discuss opportunities for development.

Hour 2

Prioritizing and Delegating Effectively

Speaker: Kim Ulbrich, Executive Director, McHenry County Housing Authority linkedin.com/in/kim-ulbrich-49384437

Ah, delegation. It may be perhaps one of the most difficult parts of managing people. If you are leading a team, it is likely you are a subject matter expert and know your stuff. Isn’t it just easier to get the thing done than risk having the task done the wrong way? Growing confidence to delegate will empower your team and will give you time and energy to focus on more important tasks. Delegation encourages your own creativity and can help you celebrate wins when the team gets the job done.

Objectives:

  • Understand the ways to delegate effectively.
  • How to handle things when they go wrong.
  • Learn how others successfully managed delegation for ultimate success.

Takeaway: Top employee assessment tools in today's market.
