About
Cycling Without Age is a 501(c)3 entirely volunteer driven organization that provides free, recreational rides on three wheeled non-motorized cycles called trishaws. They are pedaled like a bicycle by a “pilot”, and can carry one or two passengers in front. Trishaw rides are conducted on multi-use trails, side streets, parks, or other safe routes. Rides are intentionally slow and gentle, encouraging easy conversation or just quiet contemplation.
Our program gives elders the right to escape their often-monotonous reality, to feel the wind in their hair and the sun in their face. We allow isolated seniors to feel engaged and celebrated rather than forgotten or ignored. Trishaw rides also provide community residents with a daily, visible example of how older adults can and should be part of the fabric of our everyday lives. Cycling Without Age is all about building bridges between generations and encouraging age-friendly communities, which all serve to strengthen the “social glue” between county residents.
