Job Overview
The Marketing Director leads the Chamber’s marketing and communications efforts to increase visibility, promote programs and events, and engage members and the community. This role oversees the Chamber’s brand, digital presence, and communications while ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Manage the Chamber’s master marketing calendar, publication schedules, and editorial deadlines.
- Create and distribute core email communications, including the weekly “What You Need to Know” newsletter and targeted e-blasts.
- Establish and enforce consistent brand guidelines, messaging, and tone across all organizational channels.
- Analyze overall marketing trends to identify opportunities for expanding audience reach and engagement.
Social Media
- Oversee daily operations across all Chamber social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Develop and execute a social media strategy aligned with broader Chamber objectives.
- Create, schedule, and publish original social content, highlighting community news and member spotlights.
- Monitor channel activity, responding to public comments and direct messages in a timely, professional manner.
- Track monthly social media analytics to optimize performance and audience growth.
Website Management
- Maintain and continuously update the Chamber’s website, ensuring accurate information for events, directories, and user-generated content.
- Monitor site navigation, functionality, and overall user experience.
Event Marketing & Support
- Execute dedicated promotional campaigns for individual Chamber events and key initiatives.
- Design, coordinate, and order event-related collateral, including signage, print materials, and promotional items.
- Manage sponsorship fulfillment for events, ensuring pre-event recognition and on-site promotional deliverables are delivered as promised.
- Provide dynamic marketing coverage and operational assistance on-site during events.
Member & Community Engagement
- Attend ribbon cuttings, networking functions, and community gatherings to increase Chamber visibility and foster member relationships.
- Co-host the New Member Workshop in partnership with the Membership Director.
- Collaborate with Chamber team members to align promotional efforts with membership recruitment and retention goals.
Administrative & General Support
- Assist Chamber leadership and team members with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Compensation:
The Marketing Director is a full-time, in-person position and reports to the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and President/CEO.  
Benefits: Salary Range of 51,000-53,000 per year, commensurate with experience.  
Paid time off, Simple IRA, health insurance (50% match), dental insurance (50% match), and vision insurance (50% match). 
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
- 3+ years of professional marketing experience (experience within a non-profit, Chamber of Commerce, or professional association is preferred).
- Demonstrated experience managing social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including content creation, scheduling, audience engagement, and performance tracking.
- Proficiency with visual design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Hands-on experience with CRM systems and email marketing platforms.
- Practical skills in website content management (CMS platforms) for routine updates and page maintenance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with strict attention to brand consistency and editorial detail.
- Ability to balance multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
