Ready to lead and grow a community space people actually want to be part of?

The Other Side Café is looking for a hands-on, people-focused General Manager to lead daily operations while creating a welcoming, high-energy environment that keeps people coming back.

This is not a behind-the-scenes role — we’re looking for someone who thrives on connecting with people, building momentum, and leading from the front.

About The Other Side

The Other Side is a sober community café operated by New Directions Addiction Recovery Services. We provide a safe, welcoming space centered on connection, recovery, and belonging — and we’re focused on growing our presence and impact in the community. We are deeply rooted in the recovery community and serve individuals across all stages of change, including those seeking treatment and those utilizing harm reduction approaches

What You’ll Do

Lead the Experience

  • Be the face of the café, creating a warm, welcoming environment for all guests
  • Build relationships and turn first-time visitors into regulars
  • Work shifts as a barista and floor leader, especially during peak times

Grow the Business

  • Plan and execute events and promotions to increase foot traffic
  • Build connections with local businesses and community organizations
  • Collaborate with outreach efforts to bring new people into the space
  • Contribute ideas to increase engagement, visibility, and revenue

Run Daily Operations

  • Manage scheduling, staff, inventory, and POS systems
  • Maintain high standards for service, cleanliness, and product quality
  • Handle cash management, deposits, and basic reporting
  • Lead and support a small team, setting expectations and culture

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in hospitality, café, retail, or customer-facing leadership
  • Outgoing, engaging personality — comfortable talking with new people daily
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through
  • Ability to lead a team while also working alongside them
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with events, promotions, or community engagement is a plus

Preferred:

  • Experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, recovery support, or behavioral health
  • Personal or professional connection to recovery communities
  • Understanding of harm reduction and multiple pathways to recovery

What Success Looks Like

  • A café that feels active, welcoming, and consistent
  • Increased foot traffic and repeat customers
  • Well-attended events that bring new people into the space
  • A motivated, supported team and smooth daily operations

Compensation & Growth

  • Salary range: $45,000 – $50,000 annually
  • Performance-based bonus tied to growth, events, and engagement
  • Opportunity to shape and grow a community-centered space

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Flexible schedule
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance
