The Membership Director is responsible for retention, recruitment, and overall member engagement.  The Membership Director should develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship between the Chamber and other organizations, as well as foster a nurturing business environment for members.  The position reports directly to the President and CEO of the Chamber. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the membership database to record member and prospective member contacts, member referrals, and all other pertinent member account information
• Assist members in taking full advantage of their membership
• Responds to member inquiries and performs active follow-up to ensure member satisfaction and increased member engagement
• Manage the annual membership renewal program
• Contact on a timely basis and work with current members with outstanding dues
• Compile timely, accurate membership and other reports as required
• Schedule personal visits and meetings with potential members
• Oversee the Member Workshop, Ribbon Cuttings, and Mixer programs
• Plays an active role at Chamber events and positively represents the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce in the community

Skills and Abilities 

• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office software
• Competency in effective use of customer relation management (CRM) systems
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with an understanding of audience
• Outstanding organizational skills, including work prioritization and attention to detail
• Ability to complete projects accurately and within established deadlines

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field (preferred)
• Three years of relevant experience (preferred)
• Professional presence, excellent communication and presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• The ability to perform in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Must have valid driver’s license and provide own transportation
• Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends with various chamber benefits
• Knowledge of the community (preferred)

Compensation  

The Membership Director is a full-time, in-person position and reports to the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and President/CEO.  

Benefits: Salary Range of $50,000 - $53,000 per year, commensurate with experience.  Paid time off, Simple IRA matching, health insurance (50% match), dental insurance (50% match), and vision insurance (50% match).
